Jim grew up in grew up in the small rural ranching town of Yerington Nevada, somewhere between Reno and Las Vegas. While many of his friends hunted with family, he was drawn to hunting from somewhere deep in his soul. After accompanying a good friend and his father on a mule deer hunt into the back country of central the hunting seed was firmly planted.
The following seasons were spent hunting whenever possible between football, wrestling and baseball commitments. Attending school at the University of Nevada and walking-on the football team for the Wolf Pack continued to hamper dreams of hunts in far off lands, only satisfied by books and magazines read between studying for and eventual degree in Biology.
Since finishing school and having the freedom to do so, Jim and his father have been hunting anything and everything they can draw a tag for in all the western states. If you want to know anything about applications, or hunting the western Lower 48, this is your man. Four years ago while attending the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation convention in Reno, where Jim resides, he met an Alaskan registered guide who gave him a job packing, the job many eventual guides began with. The rest is history, and he now spends every fall and spring guiding in Alaska, before he returns home to guide in Nevada and also Mexico.
When not in Alaska, he can always hear it calling to him.
