Deltana Outfitters The very first thing we must do is to give thanks to the LORD for all the overwhelming blessings that He has bestowed on us. Secondly, we want to say a heart-felt thanks to all the great clients who gave us the opportunity to be a small part of their life and hunting experiences this year.
2008 Updates As we all know, 2008 has been a year that tested the mettle of most people. As the economies move up & down, the consumer must look for the best value for his or her dollar. Deltana Outfitters has always been about service and value. We have always given 100% effort to each and every client. Giving you the biggest bang for the buck is what we have always done. And we will continue to do so.
We have been busy continuously improving the value and level of service we provide. This August we made great progress! We purchased a new 20kw generator for the Brooks Range camp, built a new generator building and wired all the cabins and kitchen. This year we also added a second Super Cub to extend our transportation services. These are major improvements and will make your next Deltana hunt an even better value!
2008 Hunting News This spring was Brown Bear season on the Alaska Peninsula. We enjoyed great success, taking 9 large brown bear: (5) 10 footers, (2) 9 ½ footers, and (2) 81/2 footers.
The weather slowed things down a little, but it was no match for the enthusiastic Deltana hunters! The somewhat slow Spring still surpassed others and again confirmed the brown bear hunting here rivals anywhere else in the world. As the Alaska summer arrived we anticipated a wet cool summer, and the weather fulfilled our expectations.
The damp, cool and foggy weather continued through the Fall throughout the Brooks Range. Even with a slower sheep hunting season we harvested 10 great rams, including some very old trophy rams. As always a good number of sheep hunters also hunted caribou, and took some great trophies. This is a great additional opportunity to add value to your sheep hunt.
This year every sheep hunter that had a grizzly bear tag and hunted bear harvested a trophy grizzly. Now, my friend, that is real value for the dollar!
Caribou were doing just what they always do, moving around a lot. They did not herd up as they should have, but instead moved around in small herds. We had to do a little more scouting around for them. But as always with hard work from our clients and staff we got it done and our clients took some very good trophy caribou this year. This is a hunt that everyone should bring the wife or son/ daughter on. What a great family experience!
News Flash Now for upcoming items! We are working on a new DVD highlighting some of our hunts. We expect to make this available sometime in December or January. We will let you know! SCI convention: This January, as you all know, the SCI convention is again in Reno Nevada. Dates for the Convention are from January 21st - 24th 2009. This is a great convention and a good time to visit and meet with friends. We will again be attending the show and our booths are 429, 431, and 433. The convention is an event that every hunter should attend. Stop by and say hello! Hunts open for 2009: We still have a few sheep hunt openings in August 2009. If you ever wanted a great trophy white ram, this is your chance! Call and book your hunt now, these few open spots will not last long. We also have some open caribou hunts so if you need a good caribou, call and lock in one of these hunts while they last!
This will be our last newsletter for 2008. We again wish to thank you for all your support in the past and look forward to seeing you soon.
Make plans to come out to Reno and visit with us. The convention is a great time to visit and get to know each other, and also just have a little fun. Life is too short to waste time worrying about things we just can’t fix anyway.
